THE ENGLISH ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Proven Course of Academic Excellence

Our school is modeled after the US system and tradition. We offer a rigorous curriculum based on a comprehensive student preparation in all academic areas. Primary objectives are academic excellence, fellowship, and cooperation among students and faculty of different cultural backgrounds. The curriculum reflects a response to the needs of students in an international environment who aim to further their studies throughout the world.

ISN believes that the process of learning is as important as the end result. The curriculum focuses not only on the acquisition of knowledge, but also on the development of critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. We believe in honoring the unique qualities of each child and the importance of a curriculum that develops the child’s positive self-image, establishes English language skills, encourages creativity, and develops critical thinking abilities. We believe that children learn by being involved in the learning process and by experiencing the world around them with teachers who are sensitive and qualified to meet their needs.

English Language Development

ISN has a diverse and multilingual student population where many of our students are entering a new linguistic and cultural environment. English is the primary language of instruction, and all educators share in the responsibility for English-language development.  When students join the school from grade 2 and up, their English language capabilities are assessed to determine if they posses the language skills needed to participate in the mainstream classroom activities. Students requiring extra support will follow our ESL Program (English as a Second Language) until they reach a level of proficiency that enables them to fully participate in all activities at class level.

Our teachers play an important role in English language acquisition by providing an appropriate model for English. Most importantly,  our teachers have profound knowledge of teaching English in an international environment, and know how to appropriately assist students adjust to the social environment.

Curriculum

Students of the 21st century need to be taught different skills than those learned by students in the 20th century, and these skills must reflect the specific demands of a complex, competitive, information-age, technology-driven economy and society.

WE ARE MEMBERS OF THE PRESTIGIOUS CIS COMMUNITY

Preparing 21st Century Students for a Global Society.

As educators, we are determined to help all students reach their full potential. This is no small challenge, and it is our responsibility to prepare our young people for the unique demands of a 21st century world.

School systems need to respond to a changing world. It is our duty to do whatever we can to help our students connect learning with real life, and to provide them with the necessary skills to prepare them for success in the future. As proud members of the CIS International Schools Community, we sustain an ongoing collaboration and accreditation process to constantly and carefully shape our curriculum as well as our teaching philosophies and methodologies based on the latest research and successful practice globally.
