ACCREDITATION
A Commitment to High Standards
In 2005 ISN received accreditation from two prestigious external accreditation agencies: The Council of International Schools (CIS - international standards) AND the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC - United States standards). These accreditation agencies collaborate with leading international schools operating around the world and represent a global tradition of high standards and commitment to ongoing improvement in education.
Following the latest re-evaluation process that took place during the 2016/17 school year, ISN recently received re-accreditation status by both accrediting agencies. Through the process, key areas of improvement were identified and will be up for evaluation in the next year.
What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a rigorous process by which a specialized and official organization evaluates a school and all its operations to assert that the school has met and is maintaining a high level of internationally-agreed standards. It is a highly prized designation which has to be earned by schools and institutions which requires consistent hard work and dedication by the entire school community.
Why is accreditation important?
-
Accreditation ensure families that a school’s teaching methodologies, curriculum, and regular scholastic activities meet international high standards of operation.
-
Accreditation ensures that a school is committed to continuously improve ALL aspects of its operations, through regular collaboration the accrediting agency can assert if a school is on track.
-
Accreditation is the most effective and reliable tool to monitor and evaluate the quality of the education a student receives.
Because of the process of accreditation, students and families can trust that the education they are paying for is valuable and worthwhile.
Are all accreditation agencies the same?
No, not all accreditation agencies are the same. The reliability and value of a school's accreditation depends on the process and standards of the accrediting agency. There are numerous accrediting agencies worldwide, however select few are recognized for their reliability and high standards. Parents should make sure their child's school is accredited by a reputable agency that upholds an in-depth and ongoing collaboration with schools for regular development and verifications.
